Risk Assessment

This is a risk assessment, we have completed this so that we can make sure when we film we are aware of any risks that could arise in each location. By doing this risk assessment we will be more careful when filming our music video.

While filming the actors could slip and hurt themselves.	Actors	L	We should check the area to make sure there isn’t any hazards.
When we are filming the camera could fall and break. Especially if we are moving while using the camera.	No one Equipment	M	We would have to make sure the camera is safely handled at all times.
The actors could bump into members of the public when we are in action and filming.	Everyone/public	H	We will have to check to see if there are any members of the public walking around when filming.

There is a risk of falling off the side.	Everyone	L	Take extra care when near the edges so that the risk of falling off is minimized.
It could rain on the day that we are filming and damage the camera and equipment.	Everyone Equipment	H	Film another day. We will need to check the weather reports daily to see if it is suitable to film.
The tripod could be placed in a dangerous place.	Cameraman	M	To avoid the tripod falling and breaking we need to make sure it is secure and safe before filming commences.
The camera could fall and break while filming.	No one Equipment	M	Take care when handling the camera and make sure it is secure on tripod.

Planning Pitch

This is the power point we have made to explain all of our ideas to our class. We have included our synopsis, target audience and star image. This way we can get feedback and see what people think of our ideas. This piece of work was completed by both me and James.

 

Response to focus group

This is our response to what our group said in the focus group we carried out. We asked the group some questions and they told us what they thought, by doing this we can get a taste of what the audience think and what we might need to change. This piece of work was completed by me.

Focus Group

Here is our focus group that we did for our video. We explained our synopsis and plan for the video and then asked a few questions to gain feedback. For example we asked them if the video would be better shot at night or in day. This focus group will help us when making our video because it will remind us what the target audience wants to see.

Final music video synopsis

This is a synopsis I have put together of our music video. I have copied out the lyrics to our song and then alongside this added text boxes explaining what will be happening at this point in the song, and also the effect and meaning behind what is going to be happening. This means when filming it will be much more organised and we will know what we should be doing at certain points in the video. It will also help the audience to get a clearer idea of our plans. This piece of work was completed by me.

Final music video synopsis

Our music video is concept base which means there isn’t a story that it is going to tell. There will still be performance from our main actor, he will be playing the artist and there will be a number of shots of him singing the song to the camera. The song we have chosen doesn’t have a message or story behind it, the lyrics are very random for example ‘’ and still keeping it lean like whoa, what does this mean? I'm seen in all these places, my sister just got her braces, my misfits are breaking bases its crazy’’ this would make it extremely hard to film a music video that is narrative based.   

We are planning to film in a number of different settings, the main setting being a rooftop. There is going to be our main performer and then another group of actors that will be in the video to.

In the video apart from the performance shots we are planning to film the group of teenagers going around doing what they want which is also the concept behind it, that teenagers and young people should be able to do what they want, dress how they want and act how they want. This concept also matches how random the lyrics of the song are.

We are planning to create a montage of different shots of different random things such as the location, the outfits the actors are wearing and the interactions between them. When it comes to editing we will put these different shots, the performance and any other shots of the actors together to create our video.

An example of the style of music video we are going to try and create is ASAP rocky, Peso. This video uses random close up shots of the artists’ trainers for example, these are the type of shots we are going to use. This video has a different concept than ours but this is the style we want to recreate.

Audience profile

This is the audience profile I have created for my music video. I have created a character that I believe represents the overall audience who would watch and enjoy my music video and its style. By doing this we have a clearer idea of our target audience and will also give our audience an idea of what we are planning to do.

Mood Board

This is a mood board I have created for my music video. I have included images that I think link to the plans I have in mind for my video. An example of this is the pictures of the boy on the roof and the candles and smoke, these are all things I am planning to include in my video so I have incorporated this in to my mood board. The main theme of our video is escaping from society and having freedom. I think that the images in my mood board show freedom for example the picture of the boy sitting on the rooftop shows that he has escaped from everyone else, we are also planning to have shots like this in our video as one of our main locations is on a rooftop. The image of the group of teenagers also show one of our themes which is having fun and doing what you want. There will be a group of teens like this in our video, they will be having fun and doing what they want which again expresses the theme of freedom and escape.

Individual song analysis

I have done an individual analysis of the lyrics of the song we are going to be doing, doing this gives us as a group a clearer idea of what the artist is talking about and the concept behind the video. it is also good for helping with coming up with ideas because we have a clearer idea of what we could potentially do in our video. This piece of work has been completed by me.

After analysing these lyrics some more our group actually decided to change the song. We realized this song did not really have much meaning behind it and it would be easier for us to create a video for another song. 

Individual treatment of ideas

This is a worksheet I have completed about the treatment of ideas I have had so far for our music video. Putting all of my ideas on to paper has made it much easier for me to plan what we could do and also what we would need. This means when it comes down to actually filming it will be much more organised. 

Final Chosen Song

This is the song we have chosen to use for our music video. The song does not really have a clear meaning and this is what our group likes about it. We are aware that this is going to make it much harder when coming up with ideas, but we have chosen it anyway as we are planning on doing a concept based video.
